MAGGOTS IN MEDICINE I
Production of greenbottle fly maggots
for maggot therapy by BioMonde in
Barsbüttel near Hamburg, Germany.
In maggot therapy, fly larvae are
applied to chronic wounds to assist
the healing process by cleaning away
dead flesh and giving off substances
which inhibit infection.
Breeding flies: production manager
Norbert Abromeit harvesting eggs
laid on pieces of liver.
