PIECING TOGETHER NO. 287
The sherds of urn no. 287 from the
Bobzin urnfield are pieced together
and cleaned by conservator Anica
Kelp. Besides cremated human re-
mains, the black clay vessel – deco-
rated with a beautiful pinwheel pat-
tern – contained burial objects from
around 500 BC to 100 AD: an iron
shield boss with bronze nails, an iron
fibula, an iron spear head, and a
bronze bracelet.
