HAPTICS III
Haptic research at the University of
Leipzig, Germany. While a blindfolded
test subject’s fingers explore an en-
graved ornament, the magnetic field
created by magnets glued to her fin-
gers changes with every movement.
This allows sensors under the plate
to detect explorative stops lasting
only 50-300 milliseconds. Patients
suffering from Anorexia nervosa fail in
reproducing such ornaments due to
a deficient sense of self-perception.
