EARLY START
Every morning before sunrise, a
truck takes the German team from
their headquarters in the village to a
place near their site at Tell Mishrife
where they excavate the royal palace.
Most of them are with the University
of Tübingen in Germany.
Since 1999, director of excavations
Peter Pfälzner (3rd from right) and
his wife have been digging here from
mid July until the end of September
of each year.
